2-14-25 The evening's meal began great. No wait in this crowded establishment. Good specials, which I ordered "medium well (pink, no blood running) 9 oz. Sirloin," literally. It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I added Shrimp. All looked great, until I sliced the middle of the steak and saw blood red. I devoured the delicious 7 pieces of Asparagus and three large shrimp as I waited to advise our waitress. She took the steak for the center to be cooked, pink, no blood running as ordered. Well, my partner ate his Pan-Seared Halibut and rice as I ate bread, awaiting my steak to be cooked appropriately for me and my health. I got my food to go since my partner was done. As we waited for our round of "comped drinks," since still hungry, I sliced a sliver of steak to nibble. To my surprise, it was blackened more on the outside and still blood red inside. I literally picked up the steak, squeezed it above the white linen napkin, and the blood dripped on it, staining it red. I asked that a new steak be cooked properly and was told they were sold out. I picked a salad as a substitute. (Quick, minimal cooking, I really wanted a burger as substitute; but, expected no better results than the steak.) In addition, I ordered Apple Crisp to go, I'm curious, does it look appetizing to you? I have been to this location many times and had good experiences at the Spotted Horse Tavern in Shelton, CT. The location has a simple yet aesthetically pleasing environment. Good music plays at a reasonable level for patrons to enjoy while conversing. However, the Lemonade & Grey Goose had no taste of either. It tasted of weak lemonade on ice barely any color. I agreed to a round of comped drinks, and they removed the cost of the steak. I would recommend this location on a regular day. With the exception of the day's steak and Apple Crisp, I find the food consistently delicious.

I don’t know why I haven’t eaten here earlier. Maybe because not all of the lights in the sign worked, so it had me concerned about the inside. I finally bit the bullet after realizing they have a Westport spot too (and we typically enjoy of dining choices in Westport). My wife loved the Dragon Bowl with Crispy Chicken, and I enjoyed the Rueben Meets Rachel (I didn’t want to just get a burger). Where the world has gotten used to $15 chicken sandwiches with no fries, it was nice to see that their sandwiches included sides. I left full, and nowadays that isn’t always the case in this economy. I would definitely come again.

Highly recommend! To start, our server Diego was fantastic. It was busy, but he still always came over to check if we needed anything. Food was very good. Lots of choices, so you will find something. Go try it!

The food was delicious and the service was great! Ordered the nacho special as an appetizer and the toppings were very generous. Food came out quick. I got the street corn blackened tacos, which were delicious, but not what I was expecting. Street corn usually consists of creamy mayo sauce and topped with chili powder, cheese and lime, while these were just corn salsa. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak frites. I really loved their dessert options and the s’mores lava cake was INCREDIBLE. Definently recommend.

We came in on a busy Friday night and were so lucky to have Sara as our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, caring, and attentive from start to finish. Even with a packed restaurant, she made us feel like a priority—checking in with perfect timing and always with a warm smile. Sara did an amazing job selling the specials (I went with the halibut and it was perfection!). You could tell she genuinely cared about making our experience great. She truly went above and beyond, and we’ll definitely be asking for her next time we’re in!

Beautiful spot in Shelton. Love the ambience in the place. Parking a bit challenging. Super friendly staff. Great servers. Food I would say 4.5 (wish that was an option) steak bites, excellent. Yummy fries! Brussel sprouts - fantastic, the mediterranean salad was pretty good, falafel were nice and fresh ' just not as flavorful as I would have liked. Eggplant starter was so good. We will definitely be back

Went to brunch with my sisters and my mom for my moms birthday, the atmosphere was great and the food was really good too. Our waitress was very helpful and kept a big smile on the whole time we were there. I had a burger in a spinach wrap cooked to perfection, the asparagus was absolutely delicious (my first ever time eating asparagus) I really enjoyed this place , I would definitely go back and next time try either a different burger or the tacos. I didn’t really look over the menu too well because I was just going with the flow of what my table was ordering but next time I will definitely experiment a little more and update my review. Overall I had a really good experience and would recommend this place for maybe a casual date night.

This establishment has garnered a loyal following for its inviting atmosphere and menu that offers something for everyone. Whether you're stopping by for a leisurely lunch or a cozy dinner, the Spotted Horse Tavern promises a unique culinary experience complemented by attentive service.

As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm ambiance filled with good music playing at just the right volume, creating a perfect backdrop for conversation. The menu is as diverse as it is delicious. Diners have raved about the generous portions and quality of dishes like the Dragon Bowl with crispy chicken and the Rueben Meets Rachel, which stands out in a time when dishes often leave one wanting. The nacho special and street corn tacos have also received enthusiastic reviews, even if the latter's preparation surprised some guests with its take on the classic flavor profile.

Steaks are a highlight here, though they come with a caveat; some patrons have noted inconsistencies in cooking temperatures. While Meek Cuff experienced a misstep with his sirloin, he appreciated the accompanying asparagus and shrimp, which were well-prepared. For those who enjoy classic comfort foods, the Apple Crisp dessert has been a delightful finish, although it also generated mixed reviews.

As you explore the beverage menu, you may find the cocktails a bit hit or miss. Some have enjoyed the flavors, while others felt the drinks lacked the expected punch. However, the establishment often compensates with rounds of comped drinks when things don't go as planned, a gesture appreciated by many.
